Tournament Stars – Wouter Burger

Share: helps youth academies with the development of their youth players. Often a players’ ultimate goal is making their debut at their club’s first team. As an organization, we aim to help young players with achieving this dream by organizing trips and tournaments with opponents of the highest level. Of course we are always keeping track on the participants of our tournaments to see when they achieve their dream. This month we would like to congratulate Wouter Burger!

Wouter started his career at ZBVH in a small Dutch town called Zuid-Beijerland. After stops at VV SHO and SBV Excelsior, he ended up in the youth academy of Feyenoord Rotterdam at the age of 10.

Rotterdam Football Cup 2016

In 2016 Wouter was one of the participants in the Rotterdam Football Cup U15 with his team Feyenoord Rotterdam. The team finished in 6th place. Besides being midfielder, Wouter was also the team’s captain.

1st team debut

This season might become the year of Wouter. During the pre-season friendly matches Wouter got the chance to play in 2 of the matches. His official debut came on 16 August 2018 in the Europa League qualifying match of Feyenoord against AC Trenčín. In the ’82th Wouter entered the field to replace Tyrell Malacia. Although the team got cut out of the Europa League, this will be a day Wouter will probably never forget.

This is not the only success Wouter experienced in 2018, with the U17 Dutch National Team he won the European Championship at the expense of Italy after penalties.

With one more season half to come, we are excited to see what more season 18/19 will bring him. would like to congratulate Wouter on his debut, European price and we are excited for what the future will bring him!
